Frequently Asked Questions

The Dermago team has been receiving a number of questions about the service provided by the online consultation tool. We have decided to highlight the answers to all the questions received by our team.

Why use Dermago's services?

Dermago allows you to get a diagnosis, a treatment plan and advice on skin care adapted to your needs.

What is virtual care?

Virtual care, or telemedicine, is the delivery of medical services online. It is a remote consultation rather than an in-person consultation.

How does Dermago virtual care work?

Virtual care allows patients to communicate with the dermatology team via online messaging, without having to travel or block off part of your day. The online specialists proceed in the same way as they do in person. They examine and ask questions about your symptoms or medical history to make a diagnosis and determine an appropriate treatment plan. At Dermago, communication with the professional is done entirely via chat. No need to schedule a time slot! The doctor will respond to your request within the time frame specified in your plan. You can then discuss by secure messaging if you or your professional deems it necessary. Once the diagnosis is made, your prescription is either sent to the pharmacy of your choice to be picked up or delivered to your home, whichever you prefer.

What do dermatologists do?

Dermatologists are skin specialists who treat thousands of skin, hair and nail problems. Common problems such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, hair loss or nail fungus can be diagnosed by a simple visual examination. Once the consultation request is completed, it will be forwarded to the dermatology team for review. If the dermatologist cannot help you, the consultation will not take place and the fees will be refunded.

What problems does the Dermago dermatology team address?

The team of specialists treats skin, hair and nail problems such as acne, alopecia (hair loss), psoriasis, rashes, eczema, nail infections, dermatitis, skin pigmentation problems, aging skin, rosacea and many others.

Who can benefit from the service?

Dermago's dermatological consultation service is offered throughout Canada, with the exception of Saskatchewan.

What are the business hours?

It is possible to complete the consultation request at any time of the day or night, directly from your phone, tablet or computer.

Do I need a referral to see a dermatologist?

No. You can use Dermago online even if you do not have a referral. You no longer need to search for an available dermatologist or go through your doctor for a referral!

Are online consultations covered by insurance?

Most private insurance plans cover online consultations. However, consultations are generally not covered by provincial health insurance plans.
